When things aren’t breaking quite your way
and this world leaves you stuck,
crank it up.
Posting these literary poems where people can enjoy them pleases me. Even poems that have landed in books, magazines, or anthologies will find a wider audience here, while poems used to the quiet solitude of my desk drawer will get to see the light of day and meet readers like you! (Art fans: Look for literary poems inspired by the work of well-known photographers and painters.) Please request permission by email, including full copyright information on each copy made. For internet use, a link back to this website is required.

When things aren’t breaking quite your way
and this world leaves you stuck,
crank it up.
Word verification is not my thing.
No added safety does it bring.
It only takes a lot of time
and makes commenting less sublime.
Even turned to stone,
I can’t stop talking.
Water-logged (and -lunged)
I burble on, blow
bubbles with my words
and watch them rising…
I planted a little story seed,
just placed it deeply in the ground
and, fertilizing carefully,
spread all the dirt and mulch around.
We all step through the looking glass,
but each one takes a different ride.
Some fall head-first like Alice did
while others take a measured stride.
The old regard the new
with disapproving view,
resentful of the day
ebullience slips away.
Within the stone-cold reaches of his heart,
a red-hot revolution had begun.
The feeblest of stirrings was its start,
mere embers, kindled by another’s sun.
She tasted sweet as honey, deftly spun
his head around; oh yes, this was her art.
