love of life

I want to say
the worth of a puddle
is in the scenery it reflects.

But then I remember the jump,
the backsplash of rain on my boots,
the nod to nature
as polka-dot dewdrops
cast precipitate patterns
on my leggings.

So often it’s the small things life hands to us that bring the greatest joy. We instinctively knew this as children, but sometimes we forget it as adults…to our detriment. What’s the takeaway? Next time you are feeling down and out, find some puddles. They can be literal or figurative, but just make sure you embrace the moment and jump in!
