I’m attracted to cairns, and
I think I know why.
I do love a good rock, and these
point toward the sky.
The foundation is solid, a
wide, flat, smooth stone –
placed and chosen with care
to bear weight on its own.

But it is not alone, nor
was it meant to be.
It is added upon so that
others can see
every stone upon stone
reach for one common height,
yet remain quite unique.
What a marvelous sight!

Can we borrow the sage secret
these cairns impart
and unite ourselves similarly,
heart to heart?
Each supporting the next as
we reach for the stars
and the heavenly home always
meant to be ours?

Carins are trail-markers – landmarks
to grace sacred ground.
Ancient tribes looked to them
as a symbol profound.
May the lives that we live, and
the union we share
point us home to our Father
and His loving care.

Cairns ascend . . . like a prayer.
