The Moon, More or Less
©2009 Susan Noyes Anderson (poem only)
The moon’s more friendly than the sun
more soothing when the day is done,
more peaceful in the autumn sky,
more gentle to the naked eye.
Some ask why I’m allowing these funny poems to roam the internet at will, and the answer is simple. Like all good poems, they need an audience…and we’re glad you’ve applied for the job! The moon’s more friendly than the sun
more soothing when the day is done,
more peaceful in the autumn sky,
more gentle to the naked eye.
WANTED: one beautiful day at the shore;
a good log for sitting; an ocean to roar;
a paper for reading; a bit of a breeze;
a pair of bare feet (hold the sand, if you please);
God’s little ones are most content.
They make no arrogant demand,
but try to fill each simple need
by taking on the task at hand.

Little boy blue, come throw your egg.
Your mom’s in the kitchen; just aim for her leg.
Where’s the little boy with the mischievous grin?
Why, he’s hatching a plan for his egg. Are you in?
My favorite person in the world
happens to be this birthday girl.
She understands my every thought,
agrees with me more oft than not,
respects my shifting paradigm,
and likes to hang out any time.
When baby brother took a bath,
I used to get in, too.
I’d help my mommy hold him up
while he got his shampoo.
My brother’s being potty trained.
I’m really very glad.
Changing diapers isn’t fun, and
messy pants smell bad.
My sister loves to feed the birds.
They come from miles around.
She offers them a place to nest
and birdseed by the pound.
