with brush in hand
the world unfolds
ain’t color grand
each stroke explodes
Don’t mess with me
Don’t crowd my space
You’re in my way
You’re in my face
A little girl
A laugh, a sigh
A sparkle in
A soft, blue eye
there’s wisdom here
the power of three
the power of surf
and sand and sea
the power to kneel
The greatest joy in life is found
where love and loyalty abound.
What sweeter sight…what dearer sound
than all the family, gathered round?
What is this thing that draws me to the sea?
What passion rises with each white-capped swell
to churn upon a watery carousel
and break in frothy secrets, spilling free?
Old house, you held a family in your womb.
You stood upon the soil with warmth and grace,
a sanctuary and a birthing place,
nurturing life and love in every room.
I do not need thee; ‘tis a lie
to paint me weakened by thy charms.
Dost think thy sweeting feign would die
than leave the comfort of thine arms?
