I may not be as small and helpless
as I used to be.
I’m not the little girl who used to
climb up on your knee.

I don’t wear pigtails in my hair or
give you toothless smiles
or ask to be picked up and ridden
piggyback for miles.

But though I may not do these things
(at least, not any more),
there still are lots of other things
I really need you for:

Deep talks, long walks, a dad’s advice.
(Sometimes I listen to it!)
Cheering me up when I feel down.
(I don’t know how you do it!)

Teaching me basketball and chess
and how to make the team.
Showing me how to shoot free throws
and castle up my king.

All these are just a fraction of
the things you do and are.
A girl could have no better dad.
✨✨⭐️✨✨ I wished upon a star! ✨✨⭐️✨✨

In you, my daddy dreams came true,
and I just want to say
I love you lots and hope you have
a perfect Father’s Day!
