plant

he loves her so much
then why does she feel
like that gardenia
the one that went unplanted
the one that never got to sink its roots
into deep, rich soil
the one that kept on blooming
even after it started to wither
before it finally died
because its captive roots
couldn’t store enough
water
to save itself
