the one that went unplanted
Posting these literary poems where people can enjoy them pleases me. Even poems that have landed in books, magazines, or anthologies will find a wider audience here, while poems used to the quiet solitude of my desk drawer will get to see the light of day and meet readers like you! (Art fans: Look for literary poems inspired by the work of well-known photographers and painters.) Please request permission by email, including full copyright information on each copy made. he loves her so much
then why does she feel
like that gardenia
the one that went unplanted
From now on
when I think of chemo
I will think of you
In Geology Psychology
each element is real.
First you excavate, then analyze
exactly what you feel.
I never thought that I would call thee friend;
I could not trust another with my care.
No staunch companion who would still be there
Should I be forced my honor to defend.
We set up housekeeping in an open mine field.
No tanks. No sweepers. No safety.
Daffodils looked harmless, but traveled
in armies. Hyacinths took prisoners.
When I was a child, my very best thing
was to snuggle up warm under grandmother’s quilt.
Every patch was a memory, stitched up with love;
every square a reminder, painstakingly built,
A child is playing in the sand.
What secrets does he understand?
He knows the magic of the sea.
The evidence is in his hand.
Each child of God wears dignity,
a heritage he brings to earth.
No ragged coat, however soiled,
diminishes intrinsic worth.
