beach magic

I’m out here on the boardwalk,
watching life fly by.
It rides on bikes or skateboards –
cruises on a runner’s high.

The energy is salt and sea,
sunsets and volleyball.
Palm trees and blue horizons
cast their magic over all.

My life feels drowsy, winding down,
but I enjoy the vibe.
I don’t have to do the flying
to be glad that I’m alive!

One of the few upsides of a cancer diagnosis is an increased appreciation not only for life itself but for every beautiful experience it brings to you. That’s how I was feeling one of our first days at the beach, sitting on the patio and watching all the healthy people fly by with their various modes of transportation. It was vicariously exhilarating!
