The Journey

Life is a mountain all must climb.
The trails are rough and steep.
Sometimes the obstacles are great,
and hope is hard to keep.
When rocks and boulders block a path,
the man who wins the day
refuses to surrender,
pushing bravely on his way.
And when his own reserves are gone,
his spirit drained and weak,
he leans upon his brothers,
looking toward the highest peak.
Together, they are magnified
to pass this earthly test,
supporting one another
as they move toward the crest.
For hope is in the outstretched hand,
and faith is in the prayer.
The man who reaches out for both
will find that help is there.
The help we give our brothers is
the help we get from God.
We are His hands, made stronger as
we grasp the iron rod.
For we belong to One who knows
the struggle and the pain
Because of His, our suffering
will never be in vain.
The Savior bore the burden of
our sin and climbed the hill
to save us with His sacrifice
and do the Father’s will.
In Jesus Christ, we cannot fail.
We climb, but not alone.
And when, at last, we touch the sky …
We’ll know He brought us home.
