She Is a Tree of Life

How valiant is the tree that grows
majestic in the land…
the tree that fights to set down roots
so deep that it will stand
against the bitter storm,
the fiercest wind or driving rain,
against the freezing winter
or the dusty, barren plain.
Her branches spread out far and wide.
Inside their sheltering nest,
how many living things find haven
and a place to rest
from earthly cares and dangers,
from hunters that would prey
on innocence and ignorance and those
who’ve lost their way.
How valiant is the tree that grows
majestic in the land…
How like that tree are these Young Women
who have learned to stand
against the bitter storm,
the fiercest wind or driving rain,
against the freezing winter and
the dusty, barren plain.
Their branches will spread far and wide
and, in their sheltering nest,
the hopeless will find haven
and a quiet place to rest
from earthly cares and dangers,
from the hunter who would prey
on innocence and ignorance and
those who lose their way.
How valiant these Young Women are,
majestic in the land.
What wives and mothers they will be
with healing in each hand
to bless the lives of those they love.
How straight and tall they’ll stand.
“She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her;
and happy is every one that retaineth her. Her ways
are of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”
Proverbs 3:17-18
