come on, let’s kick it
feel the beat
swing those arms, bruh
groove them feet

nothin’ gonna tell us
life ain’t sweet
blue sky, gray sky
rain or sleet

we got this, man
the dub’s complete
never gonna go down
no defeat

tearin’ it up, dude
can’t retreat
hangin’ with the homies
on ol’ hope street

As a means of both plucking myself up and providing some comic relief during my cancer treatment, this little rap called “hope steet” showed up. Here’s hoping that some of you might find a bit of encouragement at a time when you’re feeling overwhelmed by life and its challenging experiences. It really does help to “hang with the homies” and let them remind you that, together, you really do “got this,” no matter what the issue. Relationships are what really matter, even more so when the chips are down. And oh, how very powerful they can be!
