Love from Heaven

You spoke to me inside a song
and brought my soul to peace.
Soft words I knew, whispered by you,
provided sweet release.
I felt your message in my heart,
down deep, where feelings dwell;
the love was “all around me,” and
it made my spirit swell.
Your dad first gave this song to me,
and I have held it dear,
a meaningful reminder that
his love is always near.
Today, when it began to play,
the voice I heard was you,
each soothing note assuring me
your love is with me, too.
“Through rain and sun,” you seemed to sing,
“together, we’ve come far.”
We have. And I am blessed to know
you’re still my own, bright star.
The music warmed – gave life – as
tender lyrics took your tone:
“You never are without my love.
You never are alone.“

The following is a link to the song that inspired this poem of mine: “All Around You.” The artist who wrote and recorded it is Darden Smith. Listening to his beautiful words while driving in my car recently, I felt as if my son were speaking to me from the other side. “All Around Me” was always a favorite of mine, but needless to say, it is now even more special. (By the way, if this poem speaks to your heart, you might also relate to: “Love Is.”)
