The Cycle Continues
©2019 Susan Noyes Anderson
I saw this brave little tree today,
pushing her way through a stump of wood.
She lifted my heart in such a way
that a rush of grief was held at bay,
yielded to truth and a greater good.
What seemed an ending was now less clear.
Death set its stage in the dried-up stump,
but a bright green sprig of hope and cheer
recast the scene in a light less drear,
giving my spirits a welcome bump.
No final tale should ever be told
of you or me, of tree or flower.
The cycle continues, brave and bold,
a promise secured in days of old.
All that dies shall arise by God’s power.
