Nesting in a tree,
resting on its roots,
red-caped superhero sporting
camouflage boots.

Hanging on a moment,
dangling in time,
soaking up the soft green sky scene,
fruit of the climb.

Face the future squarely, boy.
Grace it with the past.
Wield those superpowers wisely.
Let the sweetness last.

Is there anything better than the innocent and hopeful paradigm of a child? We would all do well to guard whatever remnants of that condition we can find in ourselves, within reason, of course. I probably wouldn’t recommend hanging around in oak trees wearing a cape…not after 40, at least!
