Today’s too hot to bark or bite,
too warm to walk or wag.
I’m not inclined to chomp or chew.
(My jowls are on the sag.)

No sitting up, no playing fetch,
no shaking hands with Fred.
No rolling over for this Rover.
I’m just playing dead.

Okay, I’m man’s best friend, but
there’s a limit to my nice.
No tricks till further notice, Master.
Just put me on ice!

“If you saw a heat wave, would you wave back?” – Steven Wright

(Looks like this faithful fellow won’t be waving any time soon…
or doing anything else, for that matter!)
