I am yours and you are mine,
grown together on the vine
of life and love and days well spent,
formed and fed by blessings sent:
Dear child, you came into this world
and made the living sweet.
Right from the start, you owned each heart.
Your smile was bliss, complete.
My very best friend is a tree.
He lifts me up and sets me free.
In his strong arms, the sun draws nigh;
his leafy patterns paint the sky.
Charity is love, pure love…
a sacred gift from up above
that brightens every day we live,
empow’ring us to lift, forgive
and serve each other, come what may,
in Jesus Christ’s appointed way.
Who looks at the world
from a soaring height
with a lofty point of view
ignoring Lent
was never meant
the message simply wasn’t sent
There is a time to test our wings…
to strike out on our own.
But those who go the distance
rarely choose to fly alone.
I’d like to be a giving tree,
then I would shed for you
enough of leaves to keep you warm
and dry the winter through.
