Grandpa’s a really good guy.
He knows how to make a kid fly.
He fills up his jeanses
with bright jelly beanses
and blasts our blood sugar sky-high.

~ the end ~

We’re picking out a Christmas tree.

Oh boy, I just can’t wait!

December 25th is near––

It’s time to celebrate.

The family piles into our car

and finds the biggest lot.

But this one’s crooked, that one’s short,

The moon’s more friendly than the sun
more soothing when the day is done,
more peaceful in the autumn sky,
more gentle to the naked eye.

The moon’s less prideful than the sun,
less apt to glare at anyone,
less finicky as seasons turn,
and less capricious. (No moonburn!)

They make no arrogant demand,

Little boy blue, come throw your egg.
Your mom’s in the kitchen; just aim for her leg.
Where’s the little boy with the mischievous grin?
Why, he’s hatching a plan for his egg. Are you in?
Will you stop him? No, not I.
I’d rather see him let ‘er fly!

She lets me know that I’m okay.

We’re kindred spirits, that’s for sure.

I’ll never turn away from her.

And she won’t turn away from me.

We’re close as close could ever be.

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY, birthday girl,

of all the people in the world,

you are my very favorite one…

with these kind words, my poem is done.

(Okay, I’ll lay it on the line.

Her name is quite the same as mine.)

My sister loves to feed the birds.
They come from miles around.
She offers them a place to nest
and birdseed by the pound.

She used to walk among them
dropping little crusts of bread,
till one returned the favor and
dropped something on her head!

Deseret Book

Don’t wake me up.
Don’t pound my door.
I need more sleep.
I need much more.
Much more than you.
Much more than he.
Much more than this
whole family.
Have some respect!
I stay up late.
I watch tv.
I meditate.
I need my rest,
believe you me.
Ignoring you
takes energy!
