Be with me, Father, on this day
when worries steal my peace away.
Watch over ones that I hold dear,
and let them feel thy presence near.

The answers seem so hard to find;
enable me with strength of mind
and grant that I might always be
closer in thought and heart to thee.

I believe these words in Matthew to be true. When fear and adversity threaten to overwhelm that belief, I write a poem like this one to remind myself. God is and always has been my refuge and my strength, my very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). For me, a sure foundation is and must be built upon Him.
