The past stands patiently behind our backs

Invisible at times, or just unseen

Obscured by haste and waste and quantum facts

Upstaged by  beeper, phone and fax machine

Upstaged by beeper, phone and fax machine

Today’s communication leaves no tracks

We hold hands with a plastic go-between

The past stands patiently behind our backs
